There are times when football is not just football.

Places like Northern Cyprus, sport is never only sport.
Every pass on the field is also a form of speech. Every goal is a sentence the world cannot easily ignore, even if it tries.

The Border Playgrounds of Zahra Street

The afternoon sun cast a warm, golden glow over the historical stones of Zahra Street. Nestled in the Arabahmet quarter of Nicosia, this narrow street literally stood at the edge of two worlds.

To grow up on Zahra Street meant understanding that the horizon belonged to someone else.

The Cyprus Cedar

While walking through the foothills of the Kyrenia Mountains, you may one day find yourself standing beneath a cedar tree. In that moment, it feels as though you are not standing under a tree, but beneath time itself. Because that trunk has witnessed wars, migrations, love stories, separations, and generations.

People changed, cities transformed, flags rose and fell… yet the cedar continued to look at the same sky.
